神戸大学大学院医学研究科 生化学・分子生物学講座 分子細胞生物学分野 教授挨拶

はじめに

平成28年4月1日付けで、高井義美先生の後任として分子細胞生物学教室を担当させていただくことになりました。
当教室は昭和22年に開設され、私で第7代となります。
偉大な前教授の後任としての責務の重さに身が引締まる思いですが、教室を率いるにあたり、抱負を述べさせて頂きます。

大学院教育について

医学の発展の多くは、生命科学研究がもたらした発見に基づいたものであります。疾患の発症機構を解明し、多くの患者に奏功する新規治療法を開発して医療に貢献することは、生命科学研究の1つの大きな責務ともいえます。
また世界最先端の研究をすること、日本や世界を代表する有数の研究指導者を数多く育成することが、神戸大学大学院医学研究科に課された大きな使命であり、また最も必要なことであると考えます。
神戸大学大学院医学研究科には、シグナル伝達研究によって世界屈指の研究者を数多く輩出してきた歴史があります。私はその伝統を踏襲し、各人が自ら発案し、情熱をもって研究を進め、研究の楽しさや苦しさを経験しながら、既成の概念にとらわれることなく新しい概念を作れるように大学院や学部教育をしたいと考えます。
知識を得る、発想をする、他者と交流する、体を動かして研究をする、研究をまとめて論文を書く、これらはどれ1つが欠けても優れた研究は出ないことから、研究には多才性が必要です。今後は「世界最先端レベルの研究を推進し、多才性をもった研究者を育成する教育を行うこと」を目標に、教育を行います。さらに他講座との有機的連携のもとに、個々の講座の発展がどのように大学の発展に結びつくかという観点からも将来を展望していきたいと考えます。

学部教育について

学部教育では、優れた医師の輩出が責務です。常に問題意識をもって日常診療にあたり、種々の疾患の発症・進展機序を分子レベルでも理解できる医師を輩出することは、今後の医療の向上に直結すると考えます。
もちろんマナーよく、相手の立場に立って、しっかり人と向き合える姿勢を身につけさせることが、重要であることは言うまでもありません。

研究や講座運営について

学生や研究者にとって、研究は全世界との競争でもあり、期間内でどれだけの成果をあげられるのかが問われるのは事実です。研究とは本来このようなものであるのかどうかはともかくとして、なんとか学生や研究者に、最良の研究環境をアシストするとともに、適切に研究の助言を行い、次へのステップアップをさせて、世代交代もはからないと研究室もうまくいきません。
しかし、厳しすぎると人が集まらないことから、学生や研究者の自主性を尊重し、皆が毎日生き生きしていることもまた大切です。

終わりに

1980年代の西塚泰美博士らによるPKCの発見以降シグナル伝達研究のメッカとして君臨している神戸大学大学院医学研究科で教育、研究に携われることを誇りに思います。
今後神戸大学のますますの発展のために努力致しますので、皆様のご指導やご支援を賜りますようお願い申し上げます。
