A joint symposium with KAIST and Yonsei University was held, with lively academic exchange. It was also a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with former colleagues and to raise expectations for future collaborations.

Team Handai Retreat

Dr. Okabe gave a lecture at the Institute of Biomedical Sciences (IBMS), Academia Sinica, and deepened exchanges with its members. He also visited National Taiwan University. Taiwan was a wonderful place.

The 100th Annual Meeting of the Physiological Society of Japan

Dr. Okabe gave a lecture at the symposium of the 100th Annual Meeting of the Physiological Society of Japan, held at the Kyoto International Conference Center. The symposium spanned diverse fields with very lively, educational discussions (meeting website). Afterward, he visited Kyoto University for a collaboration meeting.

University of Bonn (Germany)

Dr. Okabe gave a lecture at a symposium held at Immunosensation2, University of Bonn, Germany. Unusually for the season, it was warm enough not to need a coat.

Institute Briefing & Lab Tour

A joint briefing and lab tour of the Research Institute for Microbial Diseases and IFReC was held online (announcement). Our lab also participated. At the time, our laboratory participated as a cooperative course in the Osaka University Graduate School of Medicine.

Laboratory Relocation

We closed our laboratory at Kyoto University, where we had spent four years, and relocated to Osaka University. Thanks to the cooperation of lab members including Ms. Kimura and Ms. Yoshihara, the move was completed smoothly. (Photos: top = after the move; bottom = Kyoto lab, 2017.)
