Function and feature

To establish a hub for education and research of infectious diseases

CID aims to establish a comprehensive hub for research and education of infectious diseases dealing with biomedical and clinical science at the global levels, working intensively and cooperatively with microbiological and infectious disease research groups of Kobe University.

To develop young human resources for education and research

CID aims to develop young human resources involved in the education, research and patient care in the field of infectious diseases.

To take necessary activities against infectious diseases

CID can take necessary activities against infectious diseases in cooperation with Hyogo Prefecture, Kobe City, and the Asian countries.

To meet social needs of ensuring the security and safety

CID will meet social demand of ensuring security and safety, by developing and improving precaution, diagnosis, and treatment against emerging and reemerging infectious diseases (especially H5N1 influenza, H1N1 influenza, West Nile virus infection, Japanese encephalitis, viral hepatitis B, C, and E, dengue fever, typhoid fever, enteric infection), all of which need immediate and accurate countermeasures in case of their outbreak.
