Indonesia-Japan Collaborative Research Center for Emerging and Reemerging Infectious Diseases (CRC-ERID), Kobe University, has 4 study groups, such as H5N1 Avian Influenza, Viral Hepatitis(Type B, C, and E), Dengue and Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever and Infectious Diarrhea. At present three Japanese researchers station for long term and work together with Indonesian counterpart researchers. Through this collaborative research they identified H5N1 Avian Influenza and Viral Hepatitis B with new genetic diversity.
CRC-ERID has also established new Biosafety Level 3 Laboratory as a basis of collaborative research. At this laboratory CRC-ERID transfers technical skills to Indonesian Co-researchers and educates young researchers.
In this project we develop new antiviral vaccines against hepatitis C virus (HCV) and dengue viruses and vaccines based on a new strategy. Through this collaborative research we aim to improve the quality of research skills and educate researchers in Indonesia.
Global COE has been established for the hub of education and research on signal transduction medicine for diseases such as cancers, metabolic disorders, infectious diseases, and neurological and muscular disorders, for which radical solutions are urgently required. A cross-disciplinary and integrative approach based on the alliance between basic and clinical medicine will be adopted in this program. The global COE aims to clarify the core mechanisms by which these diseases are associated with one another and establish novel methods for their effective diagnosis, treatment, and prevention, while also training clinician-scientists and medical researchers who are capable of creating new medical fields.
