Japan has become a super-aged society, and the number of age-related diseases such as cancer, metabolic disease, and dementia has increased accordingly. Furthermore, facing the sharp drop in the birthrate, although everybody hopes for the healthy development of children, the number of developmental disorders such as autism has also been growing. At the same time, emerging and re-emerging infectious as COVID-19 caused a pandemic in 2020 is an urgent issue. Therefore, developing more practical and effective preventive methods and super-early diagnostics based on each disease stage is indispensable in these situations. Recently, quite a few scientific papers have reported that many of the diseases above stem from the malfunction of genetic and epigenetic alterations. Hence, resolution based on elucidating the etiology and pathology is a key to resilient healthcare in this challenging time.

We open the Center for Medical Transformation, aiming to expand and deepen our fruits of research utilizing the benefit of digital transformation into medical innovations; development of super early diagnostics, innovative curative or medical devices, and the establishment of disease prevention methods under close cooperation among excellent researchers from the Graduate School of Medicine and other faculties in Kobe University, and from external research institutions and enterprises domestic and overseas as well.

We hope our goal contributes to a secure and safe society with a high level of QOL.
