Our themes are actual experiences of community medicine as a fieldwork and investigation of the essential role of medical doctor. In the background of collapse of many community hospitals in Japan, we are studying regeneration of community medical area by actual medical examination and treatment. We hope participation of young clinical investigators in our action.
Our current projects are as follows;
1. Practice and improvement of clinical medical and educational system on community medicine,
2. Examination of the best method of establishment of community medical area and effective application of medical source,
3. Examination of effective cooperation between university (academic) hospital and community hospital.

Division of Epidemiology (Prof. Hisahide Nishio)
We are studying molecular pathophysiology of neuromuscular disease and child cancer, specifically focusing on spinal muscular atrophy and neuroblastoma. We are performing genetic diagnosis of spinal muscular atrophy and trying to develop new therapy based on RNA splicing. In addition, we are interested in spontaneous regression of neuroblastoma and studying its molecular mechanisms.
