Division of Diagnostic Pathology (Prof. Tomoo Ito)
The major mission of the Department of Diagnostic Pathology is histopathological diagnosis of biopsy and surgical materials as well as autopsy service. We also offer a full range of out-hospital service in diagnosis of consultation slides and immunohistochemical study using hundreds of antibody panels. Research in pathology bridges between basic science and clinical medicine. Based on this principle, we promote clinicopathological research to present novel findings in the field of diagnostic pathology.

Division of Molecular Medicine & Medical Genetics (Prof. Yoshitake Hayashi)
Our research focus is on viral infected hepatitis and hepatology. Main project is to establish the international network against world-wide spread of emerging and reemerging infectious diseases, in systematic and politico-economical as well as Medical and scientic research aspects. As an education for PhD students, molecular and genetic analysis ofinfectious diseases, particularly epidemiologic study and genotype analysis of Hepatitis B Virus, Hepatitis C Virus and Hepatitis E Virus (various patient groups in various geographical areas) are being carried out. Diagnostic and clinicopathological studies of liver diseases are also being researched.
